We had about 50-75 people come during the 4 hour event. Even a few dgrinners showed up. I had an amazing time and got to meet so many greats folks.
A special thanks to degrinners bgarland (Brad), ilbcnu (Amanda), and Aaron Newman who drove quite a distance. I appreciate the support very much.:bow

"Dance like no one is watching. Sing like no one is listening. Love like you've never been hurt and live like it's heaven on Earth." — Mark Twain
That looks like a real art gallery showing with y'all gussied up in your finery. I even bet the wine even came out of a glass bottle.
The only thing I didn't see were them little hours de vor things.
Sam
Look forward to another shoot soon.

Hey Joel, I'm just willing to hang stuff that some knowledgeable togs think are imperfect or not very good. If I like it, and a majority of regular folks like it, I'll show it. I'm too old to wait till I get good.

Congrats, Dan. Beyond the obvious wisdom of the above, any thoughts for us on the whole experience of showing your photos? Nerves? Your reaction to the public reaction? Any new Dan-groupies?

Doug, thanks for asking.
1. Art (photography) is so so so subjective. If you really like your stuff (and some people you respect like it also), then there should be no nerves around showing. "Just Do It"
2. Champagne helps
3. Talk to the folks who come about them, not your photos, unless they ask of course; and they will.
4. Don't expect to sell anything;
5. Price your photos such that their value is comparable to your self respect and esteem;
6. Make sure you have a real job.
and finaly
7. "Our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate, but that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, handsome, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to manifest the glory of God within us. It is not just in some; it is in everyone. And, as we let our own light shine, we consciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our fear, our presence automatically liberates others." (Nelson Mandela)

So that's a "No" on the Dan-groupies? :cry
Thanks for the other comments. My hat is off to you for believing in yourself enough to do the hard work necessary to present your photos to the public. My wife is a painter and I've learned from her that often times making the art is the easiest part of the process becoming even slightly successful.
I'll look forward to seeing your work in person one of these days, hopefully not too far down the road when you land your next show.

Wine IS good for the nerves, the heart and the head (depending on quantity).
When you become world renowned, as someone else said above, don't forget us - the little people!
