I'm reluctant to post my best work for fear I'll lose it , so I'll just post this in small and hope for the best. 787397091_ETEEh-S.jpg

I'ts my understanding that if you post a higher resolution , there's nothing to keep someone from downloading it to their web site and printing it , am I wrong ??

Any thing viewed on a computer can be printed at a later time.....ANYTHING........even this image can be uprezed and printed larger if a thief really wants to.......an annoying watermark dead center will not even stop the most tenaious thief......but slows them down and gets all kinds of critisim from forum users on all forums.............

Art is correct of course and I personally never gave it much thought.

However having said that, nothing on my Galleries is Full Size/High Res.
One of the last steps in my workflow is:
output sharpening & fit photo (not size resolution)
I usually keep my gallery images in 1024 or 900 size, this way they can be viewed large.
It is my understanding that these will not print well. I also encourage folks to contact me if
they do want a Full Size Print.

And to be quite Honest, if someone wants to steal they can find far, far better work out
there then mine. So maybe that's why I've been safe. :D

Very nice. I concur with the posters on size. I only post 800px to Smugmug (or anywhere else online) and with only a small corner-side signature. I figure if they want to print a low-res photo, I can't stop them anyway.

I'm not a pro but I've been asked to sell a few and I then delivered full-res copies. I dislike huge, obtrusive watermarks as they detract or worse, hide the photo, but to each its own.

Why not just hit ctrl + (pc) and view it larger? I did it on my screen and while it does give you a better view of the actual sharpness and motion of the image I don't see any resolution problems.

    Dear Branham Photos,
i think you want to disable right click in your wonderful snow/birds gallery like you have done in your other galleries! Have a nice day. Chris Scroggins

What does this have to do with right clicking?

Sorry, I am new to this forum, I am replying to the original poster. (I guess I should have replied to the original post?) In their first post they express concern that someone might "steal their cardinal photo right off the forum." I went to their gallery and noticed that they have not disabled right click to protect their images in that particular bird gallery. Sorry if I created any confusion! CS

Yes, when you replied directly to my post it confused me. No problem, it takes us all a little time to find our way around here. I just didn't want the origanal poster to get the idea that I was trying to access their photos for copying.

    That was a great capture

    I agree about the thieves...

    I resize all mine 800x600, rez 72 or 80

I have tried the uprez trick on my images the way I size.
I usually size my images 8x10
rez 80 will not up rez decent..

They are only 100-150 K when uploaded.

If someone wants a crappy image.. lolol have at it (not that I really think anyone would want my pics anyway)...lol
    Best Regards
    Gale

What a beautiful shot!!! I think theft of pics is part of posting them, their are always people who will stealrolleyes1.gif Why not just comment and send them to your site if you are worried.I go to sites if they provide a link, and the subject is interesting to me. I would go if you just provided an interesting title. Back to this shot,it's beautiful!clap.gif
