Indeed. You could for instance follow the ball and blur the rest, or follow the player. Like your basic car racing photos, but I think this is much harder to do, because not much is moving in the same direction (arms and legs of the player) or is really small (the ball).

They are all 'frozen' however. A shot with more action (slower shutter speed) would be nice as well: soccer is quite a fast game.
