Work hard, play harder. bloggy
Thank you both. I'll be checking out this location through spring both at sunrise and sunset and hopefully at other vantage points. It may be a bit awkward without openly trespassing, which I'm not interested in doing.

Not so much yet. As I mentioned, I'll be nearby regularly through the spring so I'll probably have something before I walk away. It just looks too promising.
As for the trespass - I've spent a considerable portion of my youth in places like Montana and my first thought would be to find the property owner and ask permission. Explain to him your intentions and proposed schedule (when you would like to shoot) and maybe offer him a print to close the deal. Many, though not all, landowners will welcome such - especially if you present yourself as a student rather than as a professional out to make money.

Thanks Scott. It'll be an interesting spring.

Eia, Jim;
All I've been able to find out so far is that this is the area's last 'dry farmer.' Meaning that the family uses no irrigation at all. It's very apparent and looks unproductive in this field, but across the road where the newer equipment is, it is quite green.

Cool. Thank you. If I can only make 'em all match up as far as title and image- maybe someday.
Not IR, I've gone back to messing with the blue channel in my conversions. I sort of miss it.

Dan,
Rather than relying on memory, I got about 4 glasses of wine deep and started looking at the tiff. Check this out - it's what I used.
