Never seen snow machines drag race before--well, with lights and all.

These could be cropped a bit tighter with #2 being a good example of tight.

Tighter huh? What are you thoughts on aspect ratio? This was about as tight as I could get using 8x10.

    Now that cool...

I wouldn't worry about cropping for print size, different print sizes always crop differently anyway...

do you have any with wider shots of them going down the track.
can you imagine a jet powered snowmobile, talk about burning up the track....
    Ted....

I am sure you have heard it a hundred times before, and will hear it again, but watch your backgrounds!

That being said, there really isn't much you could have done in this situation besides maybe getting down track a ways to clean things up. The light tree is great, but the starter house is a bit distracting.

    Really love snowmobile shots!

Maybe you get go so tight as to isolate driver and machine and have 'no background'?! Just a thought. Something to try next go around.

From my standpoint, I want to see some more roost! Getting a bit more diagonal to them will show more of this action. And timing it or holding the button for a few more frames will get that snow flying. Also go with a wider aperture if you can. No more than f4. And if your lens is good 2.8. This will help you loose any messy background and draw the focus to the rider even more.

Thanks everybody. My thought was to trade skis in the air for roost. I did get some shots from the back with good roost but then the smoke was an issue. I thought about dropping to 2.8 after I had left. I only had about a 1/2 hour. I keep talking to the owners of this track and another for better backgrounds but they just don't seem to get it. Thanks again.

I'll throw up some snowcross shots in another thread when I get a chance.
