My first SCAMMER! (Wedding Photography)

WOW! I must be "OFFICIAL" now! I received a prospect notification from WEDJ, and just like always I sent a standard reply that includes a link to my wedding page and some basic information about me and my company. The funny thing was the date, it was Nov 16th. Now I know I have a wedding on Nov 5th without even looking at the calendar, so that date doesn't feel right. I checked my calendar and sure enough, it is a WEDNESDAY! OKay maybe a courthouse ceremony I think to myself. I sent another e-mail asking about the date, is it possibly a mistake, and this is what I get:

thanks for the mail,
6 to 8hrs its ok by me. well i just want you to know that am in london for now wlth my inlaws to put in some finishing touch to the wedding day. i will tell my PA to send you the money but this will be in cashiers check so as soon as the check is recive and clear you will have to mail me so that as soon as i get back home i will send you your invitation card. i will give you $1800 for depossit and i will pay you the balace as soon as you get to the wedding venue.
for now the venue is yet to be known but it will take place in michigan .u will get all the infomations on the venue and thier is any thing to put in i will ok
pls mail me your address which the check will be address and the name to be paid to. with your phone number ok
get back to me as soon as you get this mail
thanks once again
sean

Now I KNOW this is a scammer, since my packages top out at $1199! WHy in the world would someone send me a $1800 deposit? Plus I love how the venue is "yet to be known" and the wedding is less then 3 months away! On top of that, my site lists all my packages as UNLIMITED time, with the exception of my cheapy one which comes with hardly anything. Add in all the grammatical errors and POOF! SCAMMER!

Just thought I would share!

Mike - something on your page....
..you might wanna take care of. I was browsin and saw that on your examples in your wedding gallery, there is a header reading
hacker_arab reseauman al3issaba from morocco fucked your systeme for help : reseauman@hotmail.fr
All your other pages and examples look fine so only the example galleries you provide in your wedding section of the site. Just wanted to bring this to your attention..

Standard wedding scam text. Word for word, it is amazing that they just copy and paste this, it makes it so easy to spot. Delete it and don't reply to them.

They will say "oops, it looks like we sent to much can you send the balance back to us?" you send them money and loose it cause their funds are bad. Typically or they create some other scam. There are so many ways to vary the scam.

Okay the galleries are down, I can't seem to remove that header! I guess I will have to find a more secure gallery! My webhost is not available to help tonight, and I do not want to risk offending anyone, and losing them as customers!

Guess I will start a new thread and ask for opinions on gallery software!

I got my first wedding scam in Dec or Jan I think. They "loved my work" and wanted to fly me to Sacremento. It thought it fishy and called the cathedral that they were to be married in...turns out it had been closed for renovations for a year and a half! It wasn't even reopening until this November! I guarantee that these are from Nigeria.

I had another one last year that wanted to display my work in an art gallery...in Nigeria. He got testy when I told him I didn't accept credit cards directly, only thru Paypal. Then he wanted to send me a third party check for double what I was going to charge and I could send the rest back to him via Western Union. Yeah, RIGHT! These scams are plentiful, and unfortunately many fall for them. I guess the old saying holds true: if it sounds too good to be true, it is!
