DPReview has tested the new Nikkor AF-S 70-200mm, f2.8G ED VR II and the review results are up:

Bottom line: An improved design with more ED elements helping to keep edge and corner specifications very high for FX Nikon shooters. There is less close focus magnification in the "II" than in the original, but better overall resolution at close distances. (The reviewer rates the lens at around 160mm at maximum extension and closest focus.)
At a relatively modest cost increase over the older original design, this looks like a sure thing for FX users who need a zoom in this range with the Nikon/Nikkor name.
Good stuff Nikon. :thumb :clap
