These guys are one tough bird for me to get a clean shot of. Today there was a hole in the brush and I got one:D

Nice capture with good colors and details. thumb.gif Shame that the background is so cluttered.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Thanks... I hear you on the background but I differ in opinion as that's where they Hang generally, in a complex maze of twigs and brush.

I have made that complaint numerous times about the birds not cooperating with us and not hanging out in clear areas. :D That's why when I shoot them with clutter behing them I try to blur it out as much as possible either by aperture setting or in my processing.

That's one of the challenges in wildlife photography. The three basics are a good subject, good light and a good setting. Two out of three give you an OK capture, 3 out of 3 give you a wall hanger.

One can't argue with the three basics I guess and since the lens was at its widest aperture, I'll just have to put it down to post laziness:D

Not laziness at all IMHO. You did the best that could have been done under the conditions you had. My original response was not a criticism but merely a regret.

I have many captures with less than ideal backgrounds. :cry That's why its always a thrill when you get an optimal opportunity. When I go out I scout out the locations that provide me the best shooting possibilities. The real trick is to get the subjects to go into those locations.

Same shot cropped a wee bit and an attempt made to blur the surroundings.
