Great shots
I am working on an opportunity to shoot on the floor at an NBA game, will you give me your secrets? What camera, what lens, what were your settings? Thanks for sharing.

I sat on the floor of a Warriors game and the 70-200mm f2.8 was my main lens. The 50mm f1.4 only came out a few times. The SI guy next to me used a 300 f2.8 and a 70-200 f2 lens
Thanks! I LOVE shooting sports, just not too much of a market for it around here. I do some games for highschool kids in the area. I played softball on scholarship in college and basketball all through highschool so I think that helps with the timing. My dad always teases me that I bring me camera to the field now instead of my glove. I have even given up coaching because I found myself just wanting to take pics at every game! I really am looking forward to using the 40d for softball this summer.
I have some highschool boys basketball tournament games I have been hired to shoot and will have the 40d for them so I will post some of those sometime later next week!
Sports is just such a nice break sometimes from weddings and babies!!!! Sometimes its nice to shoot determination instead of love... lol
Why do you say the 50mm was the best? That surprises me since most of the time to get tight shots on one end of the court and any shot at all from the opposite end of the court I need my 70-200mm f/2.8. Sometimes I wish I had a 300mm.
I've been considering a 50mm f/1.4 or f/1.8, but wasn't sure how much I'd really use it. I shoot high school cross country, basketball, and baseball photos mostly.
I wish I could find a 70-200 2.8 in my price range. Looking at maybe making that my next purchase.
I am always right on the sidelines and just time my shots. I might not get as many was I would with a zoom, but it has made me way better at waiting for "the shot". Plus you can't beat the f1.8

Impressive what you've done here with the Xti.
You're going to be great with that 40D.
