Why can't we just shoot them?
I guess it's a good thing that guns are not allowed in the Viera Wetlands.
Now, everybody knows how hard it is to get a Least Bittern in the open to photograph. Well, yesterday I saw one deep into the cattail reeds, so I set up and waited for 30 minutes for it to come out into the open. Eventually it did come out and after a short while became accustomed to my presents and began poseing for me capturing grass shrimp and minnows.
The next thing I know, a vehicle drives up behind me and the driver had a pair of those binoculars capable of spotting a tick on a deer at 100 yards away. So, what does that guy do..... Jumps out of his vehicle, yelling to someone in another car "It's a Least Bittern" while running down the bank towards the bird.
Needless to say, the Least Bittern was not having anything to do with that, and he quickly departed never to be seen again.
So, just why can't we shoot those clowns?
At any rate, here are some of the shots I got befor the bird was chased off..........

I feel your pain with that bozo. Its partly our own fault because we have given the wetlands too much publicity. When I first moved down here only a handful of photographers and bird watchers knew about the place. Now the weekends are like a circus with motorcycles, bicycles, baby carriages, etc going through the place.
At MINWR last week when I was getting my reddish egret captures and we had 8 photographers shooting with 4-5 cars pulled to the side of the road. Traffic had been going past us easily until this big assed RV comes up. Now it takes an idiot to drive something that big on those roads but the driver was a piece or work. He was the type that gives anuses a bad name.
There was room to get by but he wanted more room so he sat on his horn blasting away. Fortunately the egret ignored him as did most of us. As he went by me he yelled at me and I'm afraid that my response was not amiable.
I'm contacting the army to see if I can get my M-16 back.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

VERY NICE CAPTURE of a difficult subject!! As for shooting these people it is tempting,I have found if you can hide yourself they will continue on.If they see your camera they will do exactly what they did.[just drop your camera and pretend your peeing, they will leave quickly and if they don't just scream 'a little privacy please'' and they have no choice but to go. My favorite shot is # 4.
