I have wanted a small pro-sumer camera for a while now. I wanted it so that I could always have a camera with me without hauling my 40 pound camera bag everywhere.

I have been looking for a while now as I wanted a very good camera without spending much money. (yeah, I know, good luck).

Well I won an auction for a brand new Nikon Coolpix 8700 8MP camera last weekend. I finally got to use it for a few minutes today. This was the first time with the camera,

Here are a few I took with it.

Thanks for looking.

Mostly I wanted something I could carry in my car without risking a fortune.

I like the first pic. I think its the best. I haven't brought myself to buy a smaller camera. My Canon EOS is not lightweight but it's no where near as heavy as a Nikon D1x. It's heavy enough with the telephoto zoom on it. I'm sure a smaller handheld would come in handy for situations where I want to take pictures but don't want to haul all my gear. Nice captures though.

    Way to go Brian,
If you hadn't had the little camera, you'd have missed those shots. I went the other way. I had a 3.2mp as my first digital. After taking it on vacation and being dissatisfied with the quality of the pictures (not the shots), I bought the Sony V3 which is now my small carry around in the car camera.

Those are nice captures because the lighting is hard to capture with the small PS cameras.

    Thanks for sharing,
    Chris
