Is the concept a little too abstract? Does it work?

This is SOC, tweaking/cropping/etc will definitely happen, reshoot unlikely...

I get it - works for me. There is another headstone in the gallery, although it is outside the challenge period and represents together instead of apart.

This is definitely theme worthy. Maybe pick a title that let's people know that the wife is still alive which brings together the "Apart" theme.

There's nothing wrong with having a similar idea. It would be really cool though if you re-shoot this idea with perhaps roses in front of the headstone and then go everything b/w by desaturating the image except for the rose/roses. That would bring you into the tear-jerker realm. Re-shoot it again, definitely! There's many a ways in making an image stand out!

Btw, what does SOC mean?
