Keyword Issue

Okay, I have a strange issue. Tonight I decided to try out smart galleries so I set up a few galleries, set the keywords and then uploaded some photos into another gallery. After waiting for the keywords to index, I noticed that none of the photos were showing up in the Smart Gallery. So I checked the keywords of the original photo.

This photo, for instance (http://photos.klimon.com/Soccer/FC-Blades-2008-OC-Tournament/FC-Blades-G98/7799668_VZGni#801378444_Lcsy3) was uploaded with the following keywords:

2008, F.C. Blades G98, Gabrielle, GU10, O.C. Tournament of Champions, Soccer

But now in the gallery, you can see that it only shows two keywords:

"F.C. Blades G98" "O.C. Tournament of Champions"

If I go to edit the keywords, all of the other keywords are no longer there. Why is this happening? It is also random which keywords it holds onto and which it ignores... This definitely feels like a pernicious bug. I spend a lot of time in Lightroom keywording everything, I don't want to have to duplicate the effort here on SmugMug...any idea what gives?

:huh

This same dropping of keywords behavior happens all the time. I never paid much attention to it because I never utilized keywords on SmugMug before, but not checking all of my galleries, they are all broken in the same way...not all of the assigned keywords are with the photo that it was associated it when it left Lightroom (or my desktop).

For awhile (it might still be true), Smugmug would not index keywords from image metadata that were all numbers or were mixed alpha and numbers. That might explain why there was no 2008 and GU10 keywords. I don't know if they still have this issue and I don't know why the others wouldn't show up.

On the other hand, if I go to this keyword view of yours: http://photos.klimon.com/keyword/soccer#768640992_DjG5n, there are many images with numeric and mixed numeric keywords so now I have no idea.

If I do the keywords by hand (which I'm doing right now), it appears to work, but sort of defeats the whole purpose.

I'd suggest filing a bug report in the bug report forum. Post a link to a specific image that has the keywords on it that did not index and that you have not fixed manually. Smugmug should investigate and fix it, if it's really not working and you can get them a good example.
