Ohh I like this Richard. I feel like I'm eavesdropping on the chatter of young women about the latest gossip. I especially like the reflection of the young man perfectly positioned in the glass to the right in relation to the girls. My only wish is that that darned blue garbage container wasn't in the frame. I like the colour but wonder if it might be less conspicuous in B&W.
The use of a camera is similar to that of a knife. You can use it to peel potatoes, or carve a flute. ~ E. Kahlmeyer
... I'm still peeling potatoes.
Thanks for the feedback, everyone. Some interesting suggestions.
I tried several different crops on this one. I had actually "finished" it as a 3x2 anchored in the upper left corner, but decided that I didn't like blown bits at the bottom and I cropped it to a 17x10. I liked the color, so I didn't even try a B&W this time. I was aware of the garbage container when I took the shot, but there was no other angle that avoided it, unfortunately. You're right that it's a big distraction. After reading your comments, I tried B&W but if anything, the container seemed to be even more of a problem. If you want to play with conversions or crops, here's the original frame with only the default ACR settings:
I think you found a nice balance for this one Richard. Crisp sharp
where ya want it & nice DOF. That young mans reflection really helps
pull it off and no doubt the conversation at the table.

I like the whole thing. It's a " slice of life " shot as you saw it. The color brings all the elements out and accentuates the reality. Well done.
Tom
then the blue trash can pulls me away, so with that try B&W maybe
