Scotland will always be beautiful and Loch Lomond is no exception

22 Minutes just prior to moonrise over the mountains (which was amazing experience when the moon appeared and everything went quiet)

I hope I have captured the beauty of Loch Lomond.

You certainly have! I visited Loch Lomond a few years ago and this brings back memories (although the star trails definitely add something extra!). clap.gif

    Cheers Topcat. :)

I absolutely love it up there and I was very lucky to find the spot (in the dark heh). Just off the A82 near Tarbet.

Looks amazing! clap.gif How dark was it in actuality? I would love to try something like this sometime, but I would have to guess that you can't do it with any city lights in the shot or it will totally wash things out long before you reach that long of an exposure.

    Thanks again guys. Much appreciated.

Rhuarc, it was VERY dark. The nearest street lights were about 3 miles away and they were behind the loch. The light you see to the right are trails from cars driving along the road at the side.

I had to use my cell phone as a torch to see the camera settings. That's how dark it was :)

It's a beauty. I love the color and composition. About the only change would be to get rid of the blue line at the top (probably a plane or something?).

    Thanks Ian :)

I have thought about that blue line. However it's actually a Star trailing across the sky. The blue hue I believe is coming from the tones in that corner of the image.

I'm on two minds whether to clone it out or, as opposed to cloning it maybe reduce the blueness in it.

Reducing the blueness is a great compromise. I could see that working well.

    Either way, it's still fantastic!

I agree the blue trail would normally be white. Would probably be better to take it out.

WOW!!! Brilliant! I love it bowdown.gifbowdown.gifbowdown.gif

It would have been nice to just sit there and take it in as the moon rose too. Good work. thumb.gif

    Thanks Alpha,

I did take it all in :). As the moon rose, everything went silent. Whatever creatures were whooping and whistling all stopped. The moon shot a bolt of light across the loch as it peeked over the mountain.

    A very pleasant experience. :)
