For lovers of lichen & history

Some from Thursday's trip to Stowe Landscape Gardens in Buckinghamshire.
These are of the statues of "Saxon Dieties" who also gave their names to the days of the week. They were sculpted in c1725 and have been in their current location since 1771, the statues were restored approx 10 years ago.

    Really interesting. I didn't know about these. I really like the last one...looking up at it gives it a whole different perspective.
