Sculpture by the Sea

I thought some of you in colder climes might like to see some beach shots I took today. Sculpture by the Sea is an annual event at Cottesloe Beach here in Perth, Western Australia. Oddly enough, this is the first time I've managed to go down to see it. I got there just after 6am, to try and get some good light and avoid the crowds. It paid off - it was a beautiful morning, and there weren't too many people.

I decided to try some handheld HDR shots, mainly because I thought a lot of the scupltures would be best shown that way. As always, some worked and some didn't, but I was pleased with them overall. These are the first run through, but I'm sure I'll have plenty of fun tweaking things and trying different things.

You managed some wonderful images. I'm not a huge art afficianado, but there are some that I truly liked, especially the more comical ones, but I think my favorite is actually the swimming man. Thank you for shareing.

I am a huge art fan and I find these pieces particularly appealing. Metal sculptures are some of my favorite art. I also find your subtle approach to the HDR treatment very much to my liking. That whole thing is quite an exhibit and I thank you letting us see it.

I always wanted to lie naked on a bearskin rug in front of a fireplace. Cracker Barrel didn't take kindly to it.

Thanks to the two of you. I was aware of trying to present the art in a way that did it justice. That meant using HDR because of the lighting at that time of the morning, but of course I needed to avoid anything too OTT.

I'm trying to improve the treatment as we speak. Here's the latest I've come up with.

Ditto. And, as one who lives in a MUCH colder climate (at the moment) I appreciate seeing an expanse of beach and water that is not frozen solid. rolleyes1.gif

Being in a cold climate right now it is a joy to look at the beach -- a little envious tho :D
