Digital download - customer is getting a different crop that what is in gallery

Customer just bought a digital download of this photo:

He's emailed to let me know that his download is a different crop than the one shown in the gallery - tighter so that it cuts off boots and skis. I know I must be doing something wrong. What happened here?
