URL: Using Godaddy to host / display different site

So I've been reading some tutorials on Smugmug's partnership with Godaddy, and the method by which you can use your godaddy URL to display your smugmug page via the URL you own... BUT
I do not understand HOW this works...
The tutorials are pretty good, but they don't explain what is happening when you make all of the changes in Smug and Godaddy. Is there a tutorial out there that helps people like me understand what the "A Page" and all that stuff on the Godaddy side is actually doing? Also, what the change to the setting in Smugmug does? Here's why I want to know...
I walked through the tutorial and did all of the steps (some of it looked different at Godaddy, maybe because the tutorial was kind of old) and suddenly my webiste went totally wacky. I couldn't FTP to it, I couldn't use the site...nothing. THEN, my smugmug site was doing the same thing! I think that if I could understand what was happening when I change those settings, it would make me feel more at ease especially since it seems like some of the changes will take quite a while to "activate". The tutorial just doesn't do a great job of explaining what is happnening when you tweak all of those settings.
So, my godaddy site ( http://www.summitphotographynh.com ) is what I want my users to "see" or where I want them to think that they "are", but I want the content from my smugmug site (http://www.summitphotonh.smugmug.com ) to be what they surf through. I just need a good tutorial to pull it off and not hit the "escape" button halfway through!
Thanks!

If that's what you want, you will need to set up a sub-domain for your smugmug site - like http://galleries.summitphotographynh.com. In that case you would set only the subdomain galleries (or obviously whatever you decide to use as the subdomain) to point at domains.smugmug.com.
If you set www to go to domains.smugmug.com then your smugmug site will replace your other site.

Yes! That's exactly what I'm trying to do...
...so stupid question...how do I make the subdomain? Is there a simple way, or do I have to set up a whole new smug account? I already have www.summitphotonh.smugmug.com as my smug site...can you explain?
Thanks! Hope my questions aren't a bother...
