Learning Curve: 50D to 7D and 5DmkII

I've never used the 7D or 5DmkII, but I've rented them for an upcoming wedding. Is there much of a difference in the controls or anything else I should know about? I'll only have about 5 days to "practice" with them. I'm sure it will be tough to return them. :D

I believe that the 7D and 5D MKII are based on the Digic IV image processor and have a very similar interface to your 50D. While there are differences in things like the custom functions, the primary user interface should seem very familiar.

The 7D does have the ability to choose different AF points for portrait and landscape orientation. If that's a feature you would like to use (I surely would) then read up on that. The 7D AF settings in general may seem a bit odd at first, so maybe that whole section would be worth reading and practicing.

I went from a 40D to a 5D MkII in November. It was a very easy learning curve with just a few extra features. For me, the functions seemed very familiar... just a higher quality higher megapixel output, and full frame of course.

Thanks! I feel like I have one less thing to worry about now. mwink.gif
