Santos Cafe

I shot this in 2006 in a cafe down near the Mexican border.

SantosCafe.jpg

The camera (CoolPix 8800) was just sitting on the table and I swung it around, checked the scene in the LCD, and hit the shutter. It's always been one of my favorite shots even with the overexposure of the white blouse by the window light. PP from the original color, of course. Your comments are appreciated.

Yeah I do that with my S90 as well, it's very candid :D

If this one was mine I would have cropped the foreground OOF and gotten all
of the Sombrero on the wall in the Frame. JMHO

Thanks for the comment. I played around with a tighter crop. I think some of the southwest flavor of the shot gets lost but I may have liked the sombrero and blanket too well to edit the photo as I could. I find I sometimes fall in love with some element of a photo that isn't always necessary to the over all photo.

    Redit with the tighter crop:

Not bad, but I prefer the original.

I like them both but I prefer number 1. I realize that there is clutter in the foreground but it tells me much more about what's going on and where.
No matter where you go; there you are

The original version does it for me. I think your instinct of keeping the wall hangings and the sombrero is right. It adds a nice sense of place.

Thanks everyone. I've actually played with this image on and off since I took it and have never been sure if it worked for anyone but me.

Very pleasing natural light in that shot.....and I much prefer the original to the crop......too many interesting elements were removed.

The original for me too. I like the light and the context it provides.
