Metallic or Lustre?

Anyone,

I have not ordered from Smugmug, or really anywhere before, and want to begin the fun route of delivering prints for others' enjoyment. I'm considering a mounted print for the photo below. I'm wondering if anyone has any insight as to whether it would be better in lustre or metallic? I REALLY want to try metallic since ... it just sounds awesome :D But I have a feeling lustre would present a more inviting look for a family photo.

I've read Andy's suggestion to print 4x6's to see the difference, but I'd love to just get some personal suggestions too. I'm also considering a canvas print, if I can get the original un-cropped version with enough of a perimeter to 'wrap'.

Thanks in advance!

Lustre for a paper print of this.

There's not enough room above the heads for a full canvas wrap - but you could do a canvas board from Bay Photo thumb.gif

You could also do a box-frame print from EZ on this and it'd look awesome :D

Thanks Andy! I'll consider the lustre mounted print and see if I can get enough from the original un-cropped photo to do a canvas one. I don't have access to Bay Photo with my Power subscription but that canvas board looks like a great choice! headscratch.gif The box-frame is twice the price or these other choices mwink.gif

How is the canvas mounted to the board? It seems quite similar to the stretch/staple without the staples from the sample photos but it can't be just that.

Btw, is the watercolor giclee print mounted? It doesn't seem like it is but there's no sample photo =\

    Thanks again!

I don't know if this idea appeals to you or not, but if you're going to mount it, you could do some work in PhotoShop first by masking the people, feathering, then blurring the background to get rid of the busy-ness in the background. It might look nice.

Thanks Jean, I was thinking the same thing myself. The debate was between pulling more focus to the family or keeping the background for a more home-y feel... I'll try both clap.gif

Update: A bit of a gaussian blur did enhance the photo! :D

Great! I'm sure they're going to love the photo either way!
