Shaxi, China
Hello everyone,
I just wanted to share with you some shots from Shaxi, Jiangsu Province, a stone's throw away from Shanghai (where I live).
Shaxi is a very quiet little water town, pretty much free from tourists, but unfortunately its historical center is being destroyed at an alarming rate to make way for new shopping malls. A phenomenon all too common in China...
Anyway, here goes:
#1 Shaxi's main 'street' (HDR 3x1 EV exposures)
#2
#3 Street scene (HDR 3x1 EV exposures)
#4 A doorway (HDR 3x1 EV exposures)
#5 A house being demolished (HDR 3x1/2 exposures)
C&C welcome, but just so you know my hard disk crashed while I was in the middle of the development... I lost the RAW files, and I am not quite satisfied with some of the PP results... :cry
The full gallery is there.

Bien vu !
The thing is, these pics were taken on the morning of Spring Festival eve. This is a very important family time for Chinese people, so everybody was at home and the streets were deserted.
Besides, some shots were taken in abandoned parts of the city.
Here is another pic with some (very little) activity:

Just thought I'd drop in wave hello to another Shanghainese. Ni hao
Ni hao from me as well! Thanks for posting these...it's amazing how places emptied out for the Spring Festival.

Work hard, play harder. bloggy
what do you do in china?
Thanks. I wish I could show you the originals to see before/after HDR...
Anyway, I think we all have nice sceneries in our backyards. It's just that what is exotic to you might look plain to me, and vice versa...

I like your use of HDR. I suppose the colours are quite subdued in the originals, but you have not pver-processed the HDR´s DR wise.
In my taste, HDR´s get boring pretty quickly. I´ve seen too many taken to the very edge...
My favourite is nr. 1. Great composition.
