Nice shots. I think that one is telling the other if he ever slips the tongue in there again....it's all over but the shouting. eek7.gif

THanks for sharing. Don't see any 'roos around here.....not even in the local zoos. I guess there is always photoshop. umph.gif

Thanks all for your kind comments, these two were very active, normally they are just lying around. Ginger I can't see why Red and Grey Kangaroos can't mate, but I don't know if these two have bred at all.

    'blue flyer' with young
    Nice photos-

Like a lot of things in Australia things are topsy turvy and don't appear as they first seem

The grey/blue one is a female red kangaroo, probably the mother.

You can see her pouch in the full frontal shot, also her shoulders are rather slender and the head is not the robust mug that you find on adult male kangaroos.

The female Red Kangaroos are usually not red ,rather a grey /blue colour and are commonly known as Blue Flyers, due to their colour and speed.

The small red one is probably its youngster and a male, hence the affectionate grooming.

I guess that tese were taken in a zoo or something as Red Kangaroos aren't found around Adelaide ,rather Western Greys.

How about getting out of the zoo and getting some shots of local wildlife in nature(true nature photography) You have Adelaide Rosellas up in the hills as well as some very nice Wallabies and western Greays up in the Belair National Park-they would be much more satisfying shots,do you agree?

    For Greg
    Hi Greg,
I do get out and about in the Adelaide Hills. This was taken near Monarto while on our way home from the Monarto Zoo. He was a ways off the road and I had to use my Sigma 70mm to 300mm lens. I also get shots of Birds and Dolphins around the Port River water ways. :D:):
