Introducing Mr & Mrs Virginianus and Mr & Mrs Herodias

Taken this morning at Bolsa Chica with the 1D Mark IV and 500mm f4 with a 2x TC.

    Hi Snowgirl,
    Thanks for your comment. For the safety of the birds, the nearest you can get to the nest is about 100 yards and since it's buried inside the tree it was quite dark, so this was a very difficult shot (500mm x 2xTC = 1,000mm, f/8, 1/640) for any camera to make and I was just happy to be able to get anything half way decent as opposed to not getting anything at all. Technically it's not a perfect shot (the 2x TC really hurts IQ wise) but I did like the composition of the pair roosting their egg.
