Outstanding! First time, huh? Now how are you going to improve on these, nothing to look
forward to. This hobby is all about getting better and you just blew your chance.:):

    Hi Brian,
Cool shots. The bee butt shot is quite good. Lots of DOF and good clarity. I just took some wasp and fly shots this weekend. Wasps are hard because they are skiddish and move around a lot. I finally got my fly shots, I'll have to share sometime later. I used your method of having a paper towel on the outside of a home made light diffuser on the flash to get the shots. Very little blown highlights which made me very happyclap.gif.
I also like your colors in the Dragon shotthumb.gif.

    Thanks for sharing,
    Chris

A picture is but words to the eyes.

Nice job Brian. Got a "bee butt" shot, now you are initiated into the BB club like I was, lolol.
You did great! Love the dragonflies and the color with that. The wasp might have been better with his wing not cropped. I know, they are tricky little guys. But the clarity is great!

Great series Brian - I like the wasp as I know how difficult it is to pin them down other than at their nest.

ps: Jeff Lapoint is selling a Canon 100mm macro. Pity about the location...

At least the wasp was foraging in one area though always on the move. It's odd this year I have seen very few wasps much to the relief of she who must be obeyed (my wife goes a bit frantic when wasps are around).

rolleyes1.gif Gee, doesn't that sound familiar! Mudbuilding wasps like to make their nests inside the outside electrical outlet, and the paperbuilding wasps under the retractable awning. Both types get very irate when either of these devices are opened! At the end of winter (more or less now) I have to remove these nests before the season's offspring emerges :eek1 otherwise :toni
