Off-brand camera battery

Anyone ever use this battery? Wondering if it's worth it. Like half the price of the Canon battery. I'm all about saving a few bucks when I can!

I also don't buy into the, "buy name brand," theory all of the time. Things like batteries are only made in a finite number of plants by a finite number of companies. Can't imagine it's that different but you never know...

Thanks.

    Thanks.

    Never tried those but....

I have used Sterlingtek and others from Amazon. I most recently got a two pack for my 50D and another 2 pack for the XTi for a grand total of $30. They work find and may even outlast the original batteries.

Don't know the brand but batteries is something I never waver from the brand name. After seeing what happened last year with those laptops whose batteries caught fire, you never know. Don't mess with off-brands.

Don't buy into the hype. Apple, Sony, etc. have all had problems with their batteries, too. They're all name brand. How many factories do you think there are in the world which make batteries? There aren't that many and guess where the big boys buy theirs from? You don't actually believe Canon, Nikon, etc. all have their own battery factories do you?

I have no problem with off-brand batteries. Typically, you can buy the same exact battery, sans big name, for a fraction of the cost. Just checking to see which is better. These batteries are less than half the cost of the Canon batteries. I don't believe they have any more chance of over-heating into flames than a Canon battery.

Of course not. But the odds are high that each vendor requests a specific recipe, or a different quality control, or...

Not necessarily. They'll, typically, just ask for a certain set of specs and bid it out.
