I recently went to NYC on a 24hr business trip and as usual, I brought my camera with.

My first stop was a two hour layover at Chicago's O'Hare airport. With the extra time I decided to check out Michael Hayden's lumetric sculpture, "Sky's the Limit" and see if I could get some low light shots without a tripod.

On the way to the gate I ran into the talentless Mr. Russell Brand

I arrived in Brooklyn a little later than I planned so I decided to only focus on areas I never photographed before (ie The Manhattan Bridge).

"I've seen the bridge and the bridge is long" - Elton John

"Like a bridge over troubled water" - Simon & Garfunkel

"Here I am stuck in the middle with you" - Stealers Wheel

Then I was off to the courthouse where they film "Law & Order".

"People take their places, down at the courthouse" - Chris Isaak

Then it was time to get back to Brooklyn for a few night shots

"I hear a train a comin' it's rolling round the bend" - Johnny Cash

By the time I got back to Brooklyn the sun had alread went down so I grabbed my tripod and went down to the river.

"Manhattan skyline, Broadway lights, there's all you want in cheap delights" - John Miles 808837795_jHAmM-L.jpg

"Heaven looks at you from the Brooklyn Bridge" - Frank Sinatra

After I was done with work I noticed there was a large gathering of photographer and cameramen. To my surprise, Lil Wayne was scheduled to surrender to authorities.

"Chase you down until you love me Papa paparazzi" - Lady Gaga

"I fought the law and the law won" - Bobby Fuller
"Breaking the law, breaking the law" - Judas Priest
"Maybe I'm beat but oh what a sweet surrender" - Bread
"Court is in session, a verdict is in no appeal on the docket today just my own sin" - Creed

Then it was on to the Bronx to pay my final respects to baseball's greatest stadium, The old Yankee Stadium.

"I will crawl through my past over stones, blood and glass in the ruins" - Melissa Etheridge

"Tear down the house that I grew up in I'll never be the same again" - The Avett Brothers

And of course a visit to the new stadium.

I saw these last night and wanted to comment but it was past midnight and I was dead tired---here I am today--half dead tired, so I'm going to give it a go.

First offeek7.gif --24 hrs?!!! redbull much?
Two--next time you are in town you gotta give me a ring so I can tag along, because wow--I know I will learn from you.

    three--your shots are amazing.

    love the look of #1--brilliant!

The Russel shot is hysterical, along with your comment.

Even the pillars rock--btw--I tried that same exact shot--I promise you my shots did not look like this.

Even the ordinary shot of the guy with the train speeding by blew me away.

The shots of the old Yankee stadium turn my stomach--I hate to see it demolished--hate to see it in person, but it looks worse here.

    Thank you for sharing.

One question--please tell me what lens you use.

I love these little trips of yours. Matching the music to the photos works too.

awesome series... and 24 hours?? Dayum!!!
I am a Met's fan, and have to say I am glad that I wasn't still living in NY when they pulled down Shea.(My grandfather helped design it) Nor Yankee Stadium, I suppose. Ends of eras.
Awesome shots, and still..24 hours??? Earth hours?? I can't maneuver the city that quickly, were you using a hover-craft??

Something to aim for next month..I have about 6 hours in the city...

LOVE the songs/lyrics as titles, you have a broad musical taste!

Thanks Niepce. It's a little frustrating sometimes because I have such a small window of time in places you can spend days in. I didn't even get to Central Park, Time Square or Grand Central Station. Maybe next trip.

You're too kind. I've always wanted to hook up with a photographer(s) from New York and see the city through their eyes so watch what you wish for. :D

I mostly shoot with a Canon 100-400 but all of these shots were taken with a Canon 24-105 on a Canon 5D.

Your "Stuck in the Middle" is a nice reproduction of a very famous photo, I just can't remember who did it, but it was back maybe in the 40s or 50s IIRC, and of course in B/W. I remember seeing a little story about the shot on a show about photography (the name escapes me).

    Nice shots, too. :)

    Great Pictures
Those are some great pictures, I am still culling my photos from my five day trip to Minnesota. It was interesting as I went through the B to C tunnel at O'Hare I thought about the picture you got of it, you made it look much more interesting to me and I have been through it way too many times.
