We were treated to a beautiful sunset glow at Holland today.
A couple of pictures- just before, and just after sunset.
Both single exposures, ISO 50, hand held 3 stop hard grad sandwiched with a soft 2. Sharpened and resized.

Nice shots, Joash--I like the soft colors and water in the second one.

I like the first. Nicely saturated colors with the shorter exposure.

I like both, but prefer the first. The image is more whole with the sun coming right into your feet, where as the second almost looks like two different scenes.

Nice photos Joash ! Good comps, rock FG placement and colors.
I am with Lauren on this one. I like the second one for the pastel colors.
I think a little darkening (burn) in the midground and the photo is there.

    Take care,

Thanks so much for the comments and advice.
I was going for the effect in #1, with the sliver of reflected rays reaching in from the horizon.
but after seeing the effect of the water painting itself in the longer exposure, I grabbed a few more images in the 8-10 second range.

I have a different set I need to get to, after work today hopefully.
    Thanks again.

From yesterday- thought I'd add these here instead of starting a new thread. Similar techs: 3 + 2 stop grads, ISO 50, with longer exposure in the second image and a slightly different composition. That piece of driftwood was just crying out to be photographed.

    Thanks again for looking.

I like #1 the best. #2 actually looks slightly off level and I prefer the sunlight reflections and water on the water in 1. 3 & 4 are also good, but I find the writing in the sand near the log to be distracting. All are very beautiful though. My wife is from Holland so I showed her your shots as well.thumb.gif

Thanks Dave, we had some fantastic sunshine this week, but it's snow in the forecast for this weekend again . Oh well ne_nau.gif
Yup, the glaring lines in the sand are courtesy of my 4 year old.:D
