In the west there lies a famous island that houses a collection of buildings, each with a rich history of ship building. Inside, their hearts have been lost and the vitality gone, but still the bones lay asleep after years.

A building, unlike other models, rarely moves, never judges, and rarely becomes offended by your portrayal of it.

This was a good time to break out the 24 TS again, too. But when is it not?

Feedback always welcome.

Wow! Very clean BW series. I really like #1- both busy and serene at the same time.
    X2 on the wordsmithery.
Within the abundance of spectacular standalone images, there's an often overlooked beauty in the message
conveyed through photo essays/photo series. Michael Freeman has a nice article on his blog on this subject that I found to be a good read:

That first one is a real cracker with such a good reflection. Interesting looking place all round in fact.

Excellent, Schmoo! I especially like #2. It beckons one to imagine the grimy, hard-working shipbuilders who once filled this hall. I want to know what they hung from those hooks, and what did they think about as they waited for lunch break! mwink.gif

Do you know anything about the history of the place? What they built there? or when? It looks like a truly fascinating place and I am glad you gave us a glimpse into its past.

And, again a X2 on your prose!

You had a boatload of fun taking those, I'd bet. Wonderful series there Stephanie.

Something about all those empty hooks hanging motionless strikes me as creepy and macabre. And yet so wonderful.

Sorry guys, got swamped with stuff and am a bit behind. Yeegads thanks everyone for all the encouragement!

Marc, no I had no idea there were shipyards by Stockton but now I have to check that out! We were exploring out by Pittsburg just the day before, and that place is largely uncharted territory. thumb.gif

Actually, another thing I wanted to shoot in the direction was some star trails over a decommissioned power plant, barring any light pollution.
