Sears glass question
Heres a question for lens historians-i have seen a Sears 300mm manual focus m42 screw mount lens for sale,it looks to be in good condition.Sears is/was a large department store chain, correct?
Before I look into it too much further does anyone know who Sears got to make their lenses? It is clearly 'badge engineering" but I am hoping it may be a well known Japanese make ,which might have some credibility.

Let me know if you are serious about looking for some glass for that Pentax. We have a local photo store that has some ridiculous (low, about US$20-$40) for a variety of Pentax screw mount glass. It's sitting in a bargain bin. Most are 135mm and medium zoom. Not sure if there is any long glass there.

it was about $40.00 US plus postage and was 300/4.5 (i think)
not that i am going to tell you where, as I am interested in buying it
there are a few threads and sites around advertising m42 mounts-do yourself a favour and check out converting it-m42 -canon plates are fairly common and there are some other makes available too-if you can handle good old manual focus then it is a good way top get quality glass for not much-you could also use your 1.4 50mm on your digital as well

there would be no doubt a lot of hard up gambling photographers selling their gear in Reno-i usually don't like to prey on the misfortune of others but for good glass i am very unethical...thinking about it reno and las vegas should be a bargain hunters paradise....
if you ever see an SMC Takamur 300mm 5.6 or any Carl Zeis Jena (the East German ones)telephotos,Sonnar,I would also be interested, please let me know too!
