I Met A Guy Named Harry
Last week I took a much needed R&R trip to Florida to visit family and photograph birds with the sun shining!
Along the way in a place called "Viera" I met a gentleman by the name of Harry.
Yes that Harry ... The Amiable Mod of this forum.
Actually we arranged to finally meet in person on Monday morning and he was so gracious and fun to be with.
He arranged the famous "Eagle on a Stick" photo op for me, the very first thing!
Treated all in the area to a "behavior" photo op
And then the result of that behavior ... man that incubation period is really fast in Florida!
An awesome Mottled Duck "reflection" opportunity"
(You can't see Harry in the photo but he was in the water ... calming the duck's wake)
We watched and photographed this "tussle" for a good long while
Notice the frog gripping the reed with it's back legs .... The frog lost
This Limpkin is one of Harry's favorite residents
Posed another "bird on a stick" for me
Loggerhead Shrike
And finally a shot of "Mr. No Shoulders"
I told Harry that the snake was closer than full frame --
He told me that he wasn't going to move it for me!
No way for me to say "Thank You" adequately ..... Great morning of photographing the Viera locals ...
but even better company. Thank You Harry!

I love the mallard shots! My grandmother had a place in FL a long time ago right on a small lake. She used to feed 'her' ducks dried corn. we had mostly wood ducks there..
Camera: Nikon D80, 18-55 f3.5 stocker & 18-200 Nikon VR.... with a small collection of filters..

I'm also happy to see that you enjoyed the eagle on a stick presentation. Those damn eagles are getting harder and harder to deal with it. My negotiations with them broke down a couple of times over their outrageous demands. They had real problems with being photographed by non-nikon equipment.
It was a real pleasure to meet you and to spend some time with you.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
Bayer - That's a "Florida" Mottled Duck, not a Mallard!
Thank you much Dan. Not sure if Harry is a bird brain ... but he is "THE MAN"
artic - Harry should be nicknamed the "Bird Whisperer" he really knows how to stage the Viera birds!
Jim - No doubt that Viera is in my top 3 favorite places ... I try and get there at least twice a year.
Glenn - Fun day it was ... great company, pleasant temps, blue skies and good light! Now if I just had your photographic abilities!
Harry ... the pleasure was all mine! Oh and whose 500mm lens was having troubles? I don't think it was the WHITE one! :ivar

"Harry on-a-stick" would have been interesting!
