My download was much faster than with version 2.0.3.
Note that the sticky thread for firmware updates discussions and the 5D MKII reference to March 2010 now refers to this thread.

MUCH BETTER than the last time, only 21 seconds as compared to 2 hours!
Now, since the Ides of March have passed, this one should work just fine!
Nam et ipsa scientia potestas est.
I use mine primarily as a stills camera so I'm not too worried but would like to keep it up to date. By the sound of it 2.0.3 was a full software reload (2 hours) and 2.0.4 is just a patch. Do you think they're fixing the bug in 2.0.3 before they put it back on the site, I hope so.
Thanks, if it wasn't for this site I wouldn't know about it anyway.

I'm out all day tomorrow shooting so I'll leave the update until Monday or Tuesday.
What would I do without you

I'd better go and shoot some video now eh?
when the lens is stoped down and the focus ring ist turned. This happens
even in manual mode.
Here are two video demonstrations:

And here is a list of affected and non-affected lenses:

Still there seems to be no official statement from Canon regarding the issue yet.

Thanks for the heads up. No doubt Canon is investigating the situation and will issue a statement when the issue is identified and the extent of the problem better known.
In the mean time, I suggest that all DGrinners notify Canon if they notice the problem. Please record the exact camera and lens settings used as that can help towards a solution.

Got bored with digital and went back to film.
I've had the 2.04 since the day it was released and so far I have not noticed any wrong behavior with the 100MM F/2.8 Macro I own. I've used it quite heavily as well.
The only problem I've had with the macro is some how my focusing screen unclipped and fell out of my camera and got lost, after I finished a shoot when I wasn't touching the camera anymore... as if it removed itself. Poof.
Maybe I can blame the firmware and get a free replacement. Excellent Idea!

That page describes the changes and leads to the download page.
I haven't tried upgrading from 2.0.4 yet. I'll let someone else guinea-pig this one. I'm sure I'll install the update in a few days if people seem happy with it.
