Looking for Football Photography Article- Please Help
I am hoping that somebody can help rescue me from a memory lapse that is driving me batty. This instance has had me stumped and doing searches into the wee hours for a couple of nights now. Here's the deal. About a week ago I read an article by a professional sports photographer. I thought it was Robert Beck but I'm not sure of that. (Google searches of his name were unproductive and the one article at Nikon USA is not the one I'm looking for.) The article was about how he shoots a football game- the Nikon gear he uses, the lenses he chooses, the camera focusing and metering settings and why. In particular he explained why he uses matrix metering and auto continuous auto focusing. He mentioned the usefulness of the fifty one point system in the D3 he is using.
Although I don't have any of the gear he is using I found the article fascinating from a technique standpoint and made a mental note to come back and study it a little closer. And here is where the old age and brain fade sets in. I can't find the article. Worse yet, I don't recall if it was online or in a print magazine. I'm leaning toward online but believe me I would not bet the farm on my memory these days. (Any other seniors out there nodding your heads up and down in sympathy right about now? )
So, I'm hoping there might be someone here who read the same article and could help me relocate it. Thanks for any suggestions.
