Featured Image and Locked Galleries

I may be wrong, but I believe there is still an issue regarding locked galleries, the feature function, and the icon displayed on a subcategory page.

If a subcategory contains only one gallery which is locked, an image that is "featured" will display as the icon on the subcategory page.

If a subcategory contains multiple locked galleries, an image that is "featured" WILL NOT be displayed as the icon on the subcategory page. It will not override the "Protected Gallery" icon.

Prior to the last update, a "featured" image would always override the "Protected Gallery" icon on a subcategory page.

In the example below, subcategories showing a logo contain a single locked gallery with a "featured" image. Subcategories showing the "Protected Gallery" icon contain multiple locked galleries with a "featured" image. Logged in/out works the same.

    Phil,

The category and subcategory are supposed to pull the feature photo, or icon used from the number one position of the subordinates inside. ie. a subcategory will take the thumbnail from the first gallery in the top left position inside. The same is true for categories pulling from the sub-categories.

    Doc,

In the past I've been able to have a separate locked gallery containing just my logo image. I then featured that image and it always showed up as the icon image on the subcategory page. After the last round of updates that no longer works. The empty gallery icon problem on the subcategory page was fixed, but I'm left with this issue. If there are multiple locked galleries within a subcategory, the feature image function no longer works. The subcategory page always displays the gallery protected icon and it cannot be overridden.

I ran another test this morning and I'm still seeing the problem. If you have a subcategory that contains multiple galleries and one or more galleries are locked you cannot override the "Protected Gallery" icon on the subcategory page using the "feature" function. The release notes from last Thursday kind of hinted it may be fixed.

    Doc,

I found a work-around. If you rearrange the galleries in a subcategory so that the gallery with the featured image is in the first (start) position it will override the "Protected Gallery" icon. If the gallery containing the featured image is in another position it will not override the "Protected Gallery" icon.

In the past, the featured image gallery could be in any position and it would override the icon.
