Anybody have Giottos MT-9371 legs?

These seem to be a reasonable set of tripod legs for my height (6'5") and in my realm of affordability as well. I have a Giottos monopod and like it, so I think I'll be happy with the tripod legs as well. They're on the heavy side, but I don't have the budget to go with CF, and I want legs that are tall enough for me.

I'm curious about the center column. It has the trick column that can be pulled out and arranged horizontally, which seems nice. What I don't get is the specs say that it is 161cm at max height, 173cm at max extended height. That means the column only has a working range of 12cm?!? That seems ridiculous to me, and from the pictures on the website, it certainly looks like the center column is longer than that. Granted, to reach complete eye level for me once I factor in ball head and camera dimensions, I only need a couple of inches above the max non-extended height, and I probably won't shoot at full eye level very often (if ever) - I'm sure I'll be leaned over at least a tad, but still...

Can anybody confirm or deny the specs on the column length that it comes with? Is the longer column in the pictures an optional piece?

How about a link to the site......I use a Giottos MT 9180 (4 section tripod) for several years and have no complaints........love the rearrangeable center column for macro shooting........

A lot of websites use one photo for all of the tripods of a certain type (in Giottos case "Mt") .......I know when I bought mine they only showed the 3 section version and even tho the description declared 4 section legs...I was very curious as to why.....so I cintacted the seller (by email) and told them that if the tripod was indeed a 3 section to let me know in 48hours or less and even left my cell number.....I was called in less than 12 and told "we use one for photo for each series of trippod........series refering to the MT in the name ..............and that I would not be disappoointed........the seller was correct and I have had no reason to sell this pod for another.......as a matter of fact it is about to become my wedding / studio pod and I will be looking for new wildlife / landscape Giottos tripod.....probably Carbon fibre if I can find a 4 section............

Here's the link to the page. Here's the pics and specs, the applicable picture is of the MT 9351, which is also a 3-section Aluminum set with the multi-position center column. The MT 9371 looks to be much the same, just taller. The pictured 9351 says that the adjustment range is 22cm, and the column looks like it has some length to it. I just find it odd that the 9371 would only have 12cm range in the center column. Like I said earlier, it probably doesn't matter a whole lot, as I don't need a lot of range in the adjustment, it just seems odd that the column would be so short.

I will contact them to be sure when I'm ready to buy, I was just curious if any dgrinners had these legs and could comment on the column length.

The MT 8340, 8350, 8360, and 8370 are all 4-section CF legs with the adjustable center column. They vary depending on your desired load and height requirements.
