Problem with new D3000

My daughter's new D3000 is kaput....I think.
Looking through viewfinder view is almost opaque. Much "noise". Will not even turn on with fully charged battery. Tried it with one of my lenses, and it isn't the lens.
Camera is less than two months old....so it's headed back to the dealer this week. Any ideas? Has not been dropped, drowned or abused in any way.:dunno

What do you see when you take off the lens and look inside the camera body?

Pretty much what I see with the lens off my D200. Mirror "looks" to be in the same position.

Learn something new every day. Switched batteries.....seems to be a battery problem. Glad I bought a spare for her! Works fine now....me feels dumb.
