Of course, for me, all this is academic as I shoot Canon. And, I don't want to be perceived as bashing anything. I'm just thinking out loud and letting it run out my finger tips.

I see what I think are gaps between the filter and the hood. I have to wonder what sort of light pollution will be experienced. Also, is there room there for light to bounce around between the first lens element and the filter, causing flare and/or ghosting? Just some thoughts I had as I was watching the demo.

The link supplied by Awais indicates that cost to be some 270BP --> that's about $400USD right now. I wonder what the US street price will be.

Scott, you raise some good questions.

I'm faced with a trip this summer to Yellowstone and the Tetons. I own the Nikkor 14-24mm lens which is fantastic on my D700. I'm just concerned about taking photos out there with no filter options on this lens. I would think I will need some Grad ND filters. This may be my only option if I want to shoot this lens with filters despite the high cost.

If you shoot using the Cokin system, you experience this kind of light pollution from the filter holder. It's one of the reasons I coughed up for the Lee Filter System.

I would think light pollution is more a problem with camera orientation more than anything.

well, if light pollution is a problem, just wrap a piece of black paper around the filter to form a makeshift mat box (sort of like a movie lens mat box). Just make sure you can't see it though the view finder.

Nicely made piece of kit (for a price) but I wouldn't have thought that making something to do a similar job - using a 'Blue Peter' approach - would be that difficult?

You have access to all the relevant location/ datum features (for 'free') on the lens hood already - imo.
