A little yellow bird

Saw a Common Yellowthroat at the Viera Wetlands yesterday.....

    Ira,It looks like a dragonfly bit the dust eh! I love this bird and have never photographed one in all the wetlands where I live.[they are like the elusive kinglet around here] Your shots at the vieras are always beautiful,seems like they eat and hunt pretty good there too.[lots of minnows and bugs out there] KEEP POSTING I ENJOY THE AREA YOU PHOTOGRAPH IN AND YOUR PICS ARE ALWAYS AMAZING.clap.gif

    Gale and deb22, thanks for looking and commenting. The Common Yellowthroat is almost always found in wetlands low down just above the water surface where there is thick cover. They seem to stay within 1 foot of the surface of the water.

    They are very common at the Viera Wetlands, but apparently few people see them because of their small size and their hiding ability. The best place to see them in the Viera Wetlands is in the cattail reeds along the South and East dike roads. Look around the base of the cattail reeds just above the water surface. Usually, if you wait at a good spot, they will fly to your location within 1/2 hour.
