I've also used Lightcraft's LightZone (Linux, Mac, and PC), which is a stand alone image editor with great tone-mapping abilities built in. (Check out this thread for a quick example.)
I haven't tried HDRtist, but it can supposedly do single image tone mapping, is Mac, and is free.
The folks at ThePluginSite have a product called Contrast Master, which I have not personally used.
I pulled demo of topaz..
So far, its not even nearly as nice as the Redynamix app I had..
Yeah, I hear ya, but you do need to do some tweaks with it to get what you want. I wasn't 100% sure I liked Topaz right away, either. But I'm getting used to it and was able some pleasing results with it.
