How to I make this....
look like this....
I have been fiddling around with all the photoshop tools and can't seem to get the background white....
please help..

try using a curves adjustment and setting the "white" eye dropper to that background. Another option would be to select only the background and go to "Edit>Adjustment>Hue/Saturation" and desaturate the background...
