Tack sharp on the car, but the background doesn't do anything for me. I think if it was just the building or just the houses and trees (not both) it would work better. ne_nau.gif

I was thinking the same thing. Car looks great, but I think a better location would do it more justice.

I actually think this photo could work great in this location. Just make the background black and white.

Don't all RX-7's come from Japan? Or is it a version available in Japan and not in the US?

I like the contrast between the car and it's surroundings. If you wanted to keep the building, maybe Wide Angle and include more of it (closer to the car as well)? I'd be inclined to light the car with some fill flash so that you might better expose the sky--the sky really adds drama to the shot and the OE part of it takes that away.

The suggestion to use selective color would work well too.

    Fun stuff cars are!

JDM means Japanese Domestic Market. So basically this car is converted to how it would be if sold in Japan, versus if sold in the US.

I don't think that would help much at all. The background just flat needs to be different.

JDM = Japanese Domestic Motors. If you look closely at the picture, you'll see the steering wheel is on the right side of the car. In Japan, the roads are set up like England, in that, Japanese (and England) drive on the wrong side of the road compared to the US. That, and there are usually little things that are available in the Japan for vehicles that aren't available in the US, such as chin spoilers, body kits, rear spoilers, etc. If you can find these items in the US you are going to pay out the nose for them.

Ha! Don't even get me started on paying way too much for an old car. I'm busy putting some big money in my 80's BMW.

By the way, do you mind if I toy around with this photo a bit in photoshop. I want to prove merc wrong haha :D

To bring that car back to the US today, you have to make it US compliant before they will even put it on the boat. You are talking at least $6000. Last person I talked to that inquired about doing this with a Skyline from the late 90's was quotes between $12000 and $14000 US dollars for the conversion to US spec. That's a whole lot of love!

That's worth it for a skyline. There's a reason why they don't produce those things in the U.S. thumb.gif.

And a little friendly competition is never a bad thing haha.

Put all the lipstick you want on that background, it still just simply needs to be changed. :)

How's about blurring the background layer (not the car)?

I actually think the abandoned building is a great background, so I just blurred out the other part. I used an art brush type thing. I've never really gotten too deep into layering with photoshop, so this is a good tutorial haha.

I am personally waiting (a little impatiently) and have started saving for 2016-2017 when the 2001/2002 Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R V-Spec II will finally be allowed to be imported into Canada. Hopefully I'll have enough saved by then to get my hands on one. I've always wanted a Corvette, but that Skyline is just a down right beast! Who knows, maybe I'll be able to have both?

And nice photo! I love that generation of RX-7.
