Category thumbnail displays Empty Gallery icon

Both the Category and Sub-Category thumbnails are displaying the empty gallery icon from my first gallery which happens to have no photos. Before last week they would display a random thumbnail from the first non-empty gallery. Is there a reason for the change and if not, can the original functionality be restored?

I prefer to organize my galleries with the most recent one on top so my customers see it right away. I set up a gallery immediately after the game/event so my customers know where to find the photos once they are processed and uploaded.

    AFAIK it's been this way, we show the image from the first gallery: http://coloradosprings.smugmug.com/Sports/Girls-Soccer-2010

    Another thing you can do is what many pros do: Create a "Coming Soon" placeholder image (store it in a private gallery and collect it to the new galleries).

    I have almost always had an empty gallery at the top of my Galleries list (i.e. the most recent game), but last week was the first time I had seen the Empty Gallery icon used when there were photos in at least one of the galleries.

    When I create a new Sub-Category and filled it with empty galleries, that is the only time I have seen the Empty Gallery icon used for the Sub-Category. Once I started uploading my first gallery the Sub-Category would used a thumbnail from that gallery even if it wasn't the first gallery in the list. Even when I had an Empty Gallery icon (all empty galleries) for my Sub-Category (Girls Soccer), I have never had an Empty Gallery icon on my main page (Sports).

    When the first gallery in the list was empty and the second gallery had photos I would see a thumbnail from the second gallery until I started uploading photos to the first gallery. Only then would the thumbnail change to a photo from the first gallery.

    Wouldn't that put a "Coming Soon" icon on the front page for my Category?
