Hey all Dgrinners,
I wanted to introduce John before he started posting! We are pretty excited to be working more closely with John and hope to have him speaking at a lot of SmugMug User Groups soon! :clap:clap
John likes to say that there's not much that he hasn't done in the photography business. He got his start 20 years ago photographing rock climbers for magazines like Climbing, Rock & Ice and Outside. Not long after, he opened his own commercial studio and began photographing everything from studio still-life to sports for ESPN magazine and lifestyle work for national ad agencies and Fortune 500 clients.
After about ten years, he switched from the advertising side of the business in favor of weddings and portraits. He's traveled from Japan to Jamaica and Mexico to Montana to shoot weddings. His clients range from the every day to the ultra-wealthy. You'll find a complete profile of him in the March issue of Rangefinder magazine.
Nowadays, he mixes his wedding and portrait work with advertising/fashion and conceptual work. He's about to embark on a month-long trip to Italy where he'll be mixing street shooting with his alternative style of landscape photography. Though he's mostly is interested in photographing people, he previously owned his own landscape gallery so he's no stranger to that side of the business.
To view his commercial work, you can visit http://johnmireles.com. (Stay tuned with this site: http://johnphoton.smugmug.com/) His wedding work can be found at http://ventanaphotography.com
John is the man behind this site: http://photographerstoolkit.com/ and loves talking about both the creative and business side of being a professional so you'll probably see him responding to questions on the forums as well as regularly posting photos from his Italy trip.
Thanks John and welcome to Dgrin! :barb

Hi John:
Welcome to Dgrin....if you search for contracts here, you will probably find a link or two.
John is very generous with realistic business information aside from being inspirational as a photographer.
