Since my first attempts didn't strike many chords I thought I'd try something else and since British Summer Time (DST) started today making sunrise a more acceptable (for a Sunday) 6:48 I was out early to see if I could find anything.

Are any of these theme & challenge worthy?

All C&C appreciated.

At first glance I really liked #2, especially since you caught the back 'end' of the lion also, but #3 really does it for me. That is a bee-yoo-ti-ful shot to me. I love the light and I love the treatment.

These are gorgeous. For me, #4 is best.

And I like the old building. Maybe get it in different light. Or tweak it a bit in PP to give it more of a Fall of the House of Usher feel.

Yeah, I vote for 3 and 4. There's something about the darker tones and range of color in three that I like, but the sun off to the right third of the frame in four is compositionally more pleasing.

Another one for #3. (I have a feeling that there are going to be a number of sunrise/sunset photos for this challenge so you need to make sure that your's is unique and stands out.) Good luck!

Thank you for the kind comment & your feedback. I too like the old house and will have to go back for a re-shoot. I have played around some with the pp trying to get that House of Usher feel but haven't found it yet.

Thanks for commenting Kinkajou. I know what you mean about the position of the sun unfortunately a poorly positioned tree limited the composition for #3. If I knew who planted it 30+ years ago I'd have serious words with them - very inconsiderate. :D

#3 is the strongest of the batch. Love the color, tone, mood. Might be stronger thematically if the sun was lower in the horizon, but not certain if you would be able to capture a similar light. Very nicely done.

Thanks Dan. Your right about the theme being stronger with the sun being nearer the horizon, unfortunately there was a strong breeze which made getting anything decent of the reeds almost impossible. I have managed to salvage a couple but I don't think they're anywhere near as good as #3.
