This is my best shot yet. I have post processed a few other ways but this one works best, IMO. If people don't like this one I can show some of the others :thumb

ne_nau.gif Doesn't quite work for me. I am not sure why. Maybe his expression is too stoic. Maybe tipping the board?

The glare at the bottom of the frame is a bit too strong.

my 2 cents worth.... the glare on the bottom right is distracting... the tone on the kids face is a little off color for me..(but could be my crap work monitor)...and i would also like to see it without the extra hand on the right hand side... hope this helps.

It is a good shot, though a lower angle would give the board more importance in the frame, I always think the less going on in the pic (ie just the important stuff - the boy & the board not the objects in the background, or his knee poking thru his jeans, or the hand to the left/glare like the others have said) the better the impact of the pic. I am not sure I see stoic there, but when you say tipping the board, do you mean a lower vantage point? I definitely agree, the glare is annoying. I tried to remove it in PP but couldn't really.

I will work on the glare removal and will also try different vantage points to see how it comes out. It is tricky to try and capture it all in a sense because I feel that seeing the hand making the last jump is important. I also don't have a studio space, so a lower vantage point is quite difficult because I get a lot of junk in the background.

I will play around with it.

Any other opinions are welcome thumb.gif

I meant tipping the board as in a gesture of resignation and frustration - potentially with pieces flying. :D

Ah... I can play with that too. mwink.gif

Here is a new one I managed to get today. It's the last piece coming off of the board and a title would make it clear.

I also have this image that I took and I am wondering if there are any ideas about it. It was beginning to unfurl in the morning and I thought it was fitting.

    End of Game
doesn't quite do it for me either.
the glare, two players next to each other had me confused a bit, at first.

the 2nd image is less indicative of the theme, I think. Can't really see the whole board.
So...put players opposite each other, little higher angle than in 2nd image, play with DOF to get clear shot from near edge to at least mid board. Find a lamp to illuminate the board and players but not rest of room

The background should be blurry and darker than the board area. OK to see something of the BG but should be nothing bright and distracting.
    Keep shootin"

Nope - since you have to tell us your perspective, it doesn't work.

What a beautiful photo of the crocus! I'm partial to purple and spring green colors. :D I think this heralds the beginning of Spring perfectly. It looks like the radius was set high during the sharpening process..I might set that lower (the ground in the foreground is where I notice this). The flower petals and leaves are nice and sharp. This photo made me stop and look closer.
