Hi all,
It's been a long time since I posted anything as I've been settling in to my new home in East London but my housemate needed some headshots done so I dusted off all my strobist gear and fired up the 30D.

We ended up deciding to make a day of it, got the others involved and got a little silly!

Looks like you had a very fun time. I love the two b&w shots!

I agree with Andrew. The first one is my favorite. Very clean, sharp, and lovely. My eyes are drawn a little to her shoulder strap, but it's not really a big deal. Nice work!

Really like the 3rd one (Andy).
My favorite would be #5 except there are no catchlights at all in the eyes.

Thanks for your comments, guys :).

Kidzmom, I generally convert to B&W using a channel mixer layer.

In the case of Lucy and Andy's shots, as one of the final processes after levelling and skinwork, I created a channel mixer layer, converted to monochrome, pulled the constant down by about 3-6pts and then boosted the reds slightly. I may have made some other minor adjustments but don't remember.

Converting in this way helps to give the blacks some real depth and you've got a lot of control over the greys and whites.
