Beautiful lighting on this, and while I respect all of the thoughts from the other commenters, I personaly like the artistic crop on this. I also feel that if the depth of field were large enough to keep the entire image in sharp focus, the eye mught tend to wander too much and get lost in the image. I feel I can safely say that this image would do fairly well in the galleries around my area. These are just my thoughts, and I do respect the others. That's what makes the world a great place to be.
Here is a picture of the whole piece. I seem to have trouble getting the DOF i want and since I oiled it to get the good grain feel, the oil seems to reflect the light.

I love the texture, but I wish there was more of the picture…
…not sure why you chose such a long and thin format
…also the focus seems to be uneven across the width of the piece…
As I said the texture is great, and the colours and shapes have great potential.

Un-Oiled
I think you chose wisely on your first posted image. I like the crop and the DOF keeps my eye in an area long enough to explore all that great texture
