Converting EF-S lenses to EF
Hey all,
I own a Canon 10D and am looking to replace my current wide angle lens. Right now the EF-S lenses have impressively well optical quality for a reasonable price, and since my sensor is an APS-C, I would have no problems with dark corners. However I'm afraid to buy and lens and take a hacksaw to it without seeing if anyone has done it with good or bad results.
Thanks in advance,
MGJulius

NO, that started with the 20D. I too face this problem as a D60 owner (the model just prior to the 10D).

In some cases BUDGET! At one point I bought an already converted original 18-55 kit lens for $60.00. What DSLR by Canon could I have gotten for that which would take the EF-S lens? I was wanting something wider than the 28-70 3.5-4.5 that I had from my film days. It really served a purpose until I could afford a Tamron 17-50 2.8.

I can use the Sigma 10-20mm, f4-5.6 EX DC HSM, which is designed for crop 1.5x/1.6x cameras, safely on the Canon 1D/1Ds and 5D series bodies with no conflict.
Likewise I believe that the Sigma 18-50mm, f3.5-5.6 DC, which is very similar optically to the Canon "kit" lenses (most reviews say slightly inferior), should fit a Canon D30/D60/10D body without alteration. It can easily be had for $50USD or so in very good to excellent condition and it's only $80 new.

In a similar vain at a higher price point, but no where near what I understand the Canon 17-50 to go for, is the Tamron 17-50 2.8 that I have and have been very happy with used on a Canon D60.
