Getting started

I have loved taking pictures for years, but I never though of it as something artistic and enjoyable until recently. Now that I am realizing the job of photography I really like it and I am starting to take it more seriously. I would say that I am still new to photography, even though I have been taking pictures for a long time. Hopefully, I can use Digital Grin to get an idea of where my abilities are at, and how much farther I still need to go.

    Fixed
I think I fixed the problem of the picture not showing. I realized the page that the picture was on, didn't allow links to it, so I changed the setting of the page and now it should be viewable. So let me know what everyone thinks.

    Very Nice!
I can see it now - I like the composition and soft colors thumb.gif I might have cropped some of the sky out, but I like how the tree on the left comes into play.

Great colors but TOO MUCH SKY. eek7.gif Try cropping some of that out and see what you come up with.

    Original
This is an unedited picture, almost all the pictures I have on my website are unedited. I like the look and the quality of a natural unedited picture. You can see the flaws in the original shot, plus you can see just how good of a photographer someone is, not how good they are at editing. I know editing is the way of the future, but I still appreciate the quality of a good original photo.
If I was going to edit this picture, I would probably have taken out some of the sky because it does take up too much of the picture and it takes away from the detail of the silhouette. Especially since most of the amazing colors are near the lower part of the picture.
But thank you very much for your thoughts and opinions.

Nice image, but I'd crop alot of the sky too.

Nothing wrong with editing a photo digitally. Ansel Adams spent long hours processing negatives before printing. If he were around now, I'm sure he'd be Photoshopping too!

My grandfather was a professional photographer...... there weren't many photos he did not edit. I spent hours with him in the dark room when I was a young kid (must have been more patient then than I am now ).... that's how long it took back then to get ONE photo right!
